FLU!!!

So, on Friday, last, Aiden woke up with the stomach flu. He spent most of the day in my lap or my mom's. He seemed okay by Sunday, but by Sunday afternoon we realized he was still sick. It lasted through Tuesday!!! Yuck! By Tuesday night, I had the stomach flu, and by Wednesday morning, Erik had it too. Thank goodness my mom was here as she has been taking care of Aiden while Erik and I convalesced. Now we just hope and pray that Mom doesn't get sick!

Still no baby. Granted, I was hoping that I woudn't go into labor while I was feeling so bad. I'm guessing your body kind of decides not to go into labor when you're really sick. I can't believe the baby isn't here yet. I know I'm nearing the end of 39 weeks, but I was sure this little guy was going to be a bit earlier. Granted, my prediction was to have him by the end of this week. There is still time. Erik is predicting next week. We'll see who's right--maybe no one as the baby could wait until I'm 41 or 42 weeks. Oh, wouldn't that be fun :-(

Finger painting

Aiden finger painted for the first time this week. He LOVED it! At first he was just using his fingers, but after my mom showed him how much fun it was to use his whole hand, he enjoyed that too.

After finger painting, he moved onto playdough. Then, he washed some of his pots and pans in the big sink. Then, he vacuumed. Then, he fell down on the floor and cried, "Mama, hold me!" He was so tired; this was a lot of activity on his first day of starting to feel well.

All Aboard

Aiden and his Grandma had a great time playing with trains today. Aiden didn't have any interest in wearing his train engineer hat and bandanna so Grandma took the job.

Cleaning

Aiden enjoys helping Mama & Papa. Today, he helped wash a window and pull weeds. He enjoys doing whatever we are doing. Sometimes we add fun twists into the work such as looking for worms when we weed!

Belated Mother's Day Lunch

My mom came to visit and help with Aiden and the new baby...whenever he chooses to arrive. Today we went out for lunch after my doctor's appointment. We had a belated Mother's Day celebration. The marionberry tart we had at the Nordstrom cafe was INCREDIBLE!!!!

The Transplants

So it ends up that my college roommate, Amy, knows several couples that have moved to our area. We got together with them for dinner tonight and had a great time.

Erik's Cheesecake

Erik baked a cheesecake today. He worked on it while Aiden and I napped, but Aiden had an opportunity to help. Here they are in aprons my parents gave us: Big Guy and Little Guy.

"Swimming"

Aiden enjoys "swimming" in his bath now. This involves lying in the bath water, floating back and forth. He is very proud of himself each time he does this.

Visit to the Doctor

Things are looking good with the pregnancy--37 weeks now...the baby has dropped as seen my my decreased measurement of my tummy (not obvious to my eyes, but visible with the tape measure). This baby may be here a bit sooner than Aiden's 41 weeks. Who knows though, right!

Rocket Launch

Erik is loving having an excuse to build and launch rockets again. He and Aiden had a great time doing this on Sunday.

Mother's Day

Had a nice Mother's Day. Got a picture of the growing family--37 weeks pregnant today. We're really looking forward to our addition.

Trip to the zoo

We went to the zoo today with some friends: Rika and her two girls (ages 3 and 1). The three-year-old kept trying to help with Aiden by holding his hand. At the start of the hand holding, though, I heard Aiden say to his friend, "Do you want to hold hands?" Precious!!! The rest of the day they were running around together, holding hands, smiling, and laughing. The top picture is Aiden watching an orangutan who was hiding in a box. This trip also gave me the chance to try out our new double stroller. So far, so good!

Marinating the camera

Nearly two weeks ago, I was coming inside from the garage and I put my purse on the laundry room cabinet. I went upstairs to take a nap and when I came down a few hours later I found that my purse had fallen into the sink. This wouldn't have been a problem, but there happened to be a cup of water in the sink--Erik had been painting. This still wouldn't have been an issue if it hadn't been for the fact that one item, our camera, had fallen out of my purse and directly into the cup. It had marinated in a cup of water for perhaps 3 hours. We let the camera dry out for nearly two weeks before I tried using it again. Amazingly, it seems to work. You can see for yourself; the pictures from this blog are from our camera.

Getting Settled!

We had the inside of the house painted!!! The walls are no longer beigey-pink!!! Well, at least not in the main areas. Our bedrooms/baths/rec room are still beigey-pink, but somehow it isn't as obnoxious in the smaller rooms! The farthest right-hand picture is a "before" picture. The pictures were taken at night so it is a bit harder to see the color, I suppose! We're also getting the nursery all set-up. I ordered some bicycle decorations; I matted and framed a picture, and Erik is hanging everything up! I sewed a bed skirt to go with the chair I covered when I was pregnant with Aiden. I'm also matting and framing some family pictures...nesting???? Meanwhile, Erik has been working very hard. It seems that work has just become much more demanding. The poor guy is being paged at all hours.
