Chocolate bunnies in Olden times

So apparently, when I was a child, I lived during "olden times." Today Aiden and Zander won chocolate bunnies for pictures they'd colored. When I handed the boys their bunnies, I let them know that they were hollow chocolate bunnies. In the past, Aiden has gotten upset when he has bitten into a bunny and there was nothing inside. After I informed Aiden of this, he asked me how I knew...I told him I'd had the same kind of chocolate bunny as a child. He responded, "Well that was in olden times. I'm sure they aren't hollow anymore." He later informed me that his chocolate bunny was indeed hollow. I guess the chocolate bunny company is not listening to the crying children's feedback :-) Or maybe they just pay attention to crying parents who don't want their kids consuming too much chocolate.

Pop Goes the Weasel

Zander learned Pop Goes the Weasel at a recent library storytime. Now, when we have peas, he sings the song and pops a pea at the "Pop Goes the Weasel" section of the song. Erik got a 5 minute video of this...he just kept going and going. He did not want to eat the weasels though...especially ones that had been "popped."

How quickly it passes!

Just realized that I haven't updated our blog in a year! How quickly time passes. Here are some brief updates:

Aiden: He's reading pretty well now. He can read/sound-out words amazingly well, but lacks confidence if there are more than a few words on each page. It is times like these that I wish I had his books on my kindle so the screen could just show him 3-4 words at a time.

In March I took him to the Kindergarten Round-Up. I signed him up for Kindergarten in the Fall and he got to play and ride in a school bus with the other children, while parents were learning about the kindergarten program. That bus ride was VERY exciting...so I'm told :-)

Aiden recently heard Justin Beiber's cd--he loves it. Erik is grinding his teeth more...are these two events related?

Zander: He's such a snuggle-bug! He loves to be held and stay close, except when he wants to RUN!!!! He has a ton of energy. He has started singing. His favorite song is Skidamarink. He sings it with hand motions. I can't say he has found the tune yet, but I love it nonetheless.

Zander loves to pretend he's a dog. He bites onto his blankie and then wants you to walk around with him while he crawls on the floor.

Erik: He started running this winter. He just completed his first dualathalon--a 15 mile mountain bike ride and a 5 mile run. That was today...it rained the whole time and it has been raining here for about two weeks straight. He was MUDDY!

Erik has jumped back into an old hobby of building and launching rockets. The boys, especially Aiden, are having a great time with this. In May, Erik is going to launch a BIG rocket to get certified (hopefully) to use bigger rocket engines.

Helen: Ran 26.2 miles in October in the Portland Marathon. Can you tell I'm still proud. My friend, Wendi and I trained all summer and did it in 4 hours and 50 minutes!!!! We ran the whole thing.
