Naked Reading

After Aiden's bath, he grabbed a book and some stuffed animal friends and decided to climb up onto Erik and my bed for a little light reading. He didn't care at all that he wasn't dressed yet!

Fat Bear

Last night, Erik was reading Aiden an alphabet book with different bears for each letter. When he was on "F," the book said "Fat Bear" and had a picture. Erik pointed out the bear's big tummy. Aiden responded, "Just like Momma!" He showed me the book and picture the today. He was very proud of himself. I keep chuckling...I'm a fat bear!

Beach Trip/General Update

Made our first trip to the beach today. We had gorgeous weather. Aiden loved building sandcastles and filling in the hole that Erik was trying to dig. Erik did eventually finish his hole--he put in a log and filled it in...how long will it stand there??? We may never know!

Aiden also loved throwing sand from his shovel and trying to play on the log teeter-totter.

My energy level with the pregnancy finally seems to be increasing...still need my naps, but feel much better during the day than previously. I only have about 6 more weeks! Can't believe it. My mom comes out in the middle of May to help out with Aiden during the whole event. Also, the baby's room is finally coming together. It looks like new baby will have a real bedroom, even if he won't sleep there right away.

Aiden's 2nd Easter

Aiden loved Easter! Searching for eggs was the best! He didn't, however, care for meeting the Easter bunny! We have also decided that Aiden and candy do not mix well. In the future we'll be using my friend Kathy's idea of filling plastic eggs with raisins/animal crackers and other healthier options.

Washing Dishes

Aiden's new favorite thing is washing dishes. We put on his apron, give him some non-breakable items, a cloth/sponge, and let him stand on a chair at the sink. So far, he's been entertained by this activity for a solid 30 minutes. At that point, I actually had to tear him away from the sink for dinner. Who knows how long he would have stayed!

Visiting Family

As many of you know, my mother-in-law, Sandy, recently passed away. It felt very unexpected even though she was diagnosed with cancer over a year ago...she was given a clean bill of health last November.

We were planning on visiting her on 4/3/09, but before we left for the airport, she passed away. We continued our trip and were able to spend some time with Gregg, my father-in-law, and Meredith, my sister-in-law. Included are pictures of Erik, Aiden, and I at Hurricane Point, a picture of Auntie Mere and Aiden shooting rockets from behind a couch, and Aunt Alix and Aiden having a chat.

Tumbling out of bed

Aiden had his first tumble out of bed last night. He woke up crying at 1:30am...a nightmare, we suspect. Erik got him to go back to sleep pretty quickly. He woke again at 3:30am (these nighttime wakings are VERY rare). This time I went to check on him. He was sitting on the floor next to his bed looking very confused. I put him back in bed and sang him a song, holding his hand. He fell right to sleep as I was singing to him. This morning, he didn't even seem to remember anything. I am amazed that he could fall out of bed past the railing. He must have been sleeping right at the very bottom of the bed. When I check on him at night, he is frequently lying across his bed; it is always so funny to see.
